Christopher Weafer has worked in the Russia-Eurasia region for almost twenty-two years and his experience in Emerging Markets covers more than forty years. He has regularly been voted the best market analyst in Russia and the Eurasia region in surveys carried out by Thomson Reuters and Institutional Investor.

Christopher is the founding partner of Macro-Advisory (MA) Limited, the leading independent Russia-Eurasia focused strategy advisory firm, which was set up in late 2013. Prior to this, he was the Chief Strategist for Sberbank, the largest financial organisation in Russia and Eastern Europe.

From 2007 to early 2011, he had a similar role with Uralisb Financial Corporation and, between 2002 and 2007, he was the Chief Market Strategist for Alfa bank, Russia’s leading independent financial group. His first role in Moscow was as head of research for Troika Dialog, an independent investment bank that was subsequently taken over by Sberbank. He held this role from early 1998 to mid-2002.
